I have13 years of professional experience, including 6 years with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Natural Resources, Zanzibar, as an Extension Officer in Irrigation Department, and 7 years at the State University of Zanzibar as an Assistant Lecturer in Food Science and Nutrition, teaching food Processing, Preservation, Storage and Nutrition and Food Security modules. Member of the team involved in developing the Degree of General Agriculture curriculum, particularly Food Science, Food Security and Nutrition modules, under the HEET Project. Attend 1year at Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), with practical exposure in Horticulture, Biotechnology, Tissue Culture and Food Science laboratories under NOREC Exchange Programme. Award in reviewing supplementary training materials on Climate Smart Agriculture practices, food technology, nutrition and gender under collaboration between IITA, the Ministry of Agriculture and USDA. Participated in surveys assessing socio-cultural and environmental contexts of food consumption, dietary patterns and dietary adequacy in Zanzibar, in collaboration with TFNC, FAO and the Ministry of Health Zanzibar and team Leader during the second round of the National Nutrition Survey using the SMART methodology. Facilitator in the NAFAKA Project and ERPP (Kilimo Shadidi), and member of the TANRICE Project under the JICA-supported irrigation system management group. Worked as a Nutrition Educator focusing on food security and nutrition issues under the Ministry of Agriculture. Mentor in the AGRA YEFFA Project under Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS My research areas include malnutrition, dietary patterns, nutrition-related diseases, food security, post-harvest loss reduction, shelf-life extension, value addition, and agriculture with Five (5) research papers published. i. Epidemiological profile of malnutrition status and spatial distribution of children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS in Tanzania. ii. Awareness and Risk Factors of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Zanzibar. iii. Associated factors of malnutrition status among children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS in Tanzania: Individual-level analysis and marginal effect estimation. iv. Assessing the impact of TANRICE Project Interventions on Social Demographic Change among rice farmers in Zanzibar. v. Network analysis of demographics, dietary habit and health-related quality of life among north Chinese population.
