Abrahman Suleiman Issa

Abrahman Suleiman Issa is an Assistant Lecturer at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), specializing in animal production systems, pasture management, and agricultural value chain development. He holds an MSc in Agricultural Production Chain Management from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands, and a BSc in Range Management from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. His research and professional work focus on livestock productivity improvement, climate- smart forage development, and sustainable feed resource utilization in smallholder and extensive farming systems. He has extensive experience in dairy, poultry, and meat value chains, with strong competencies in value chain analysis, farmer capacity building, and agribusiness development. Mr. Issa has contributed to several national and international initiatives, including Lead focal in FFS implementation in the Dairy value chain under CSDT-IFAD, a consultancy and technical assignments with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Project Team with TI3P Project committee, research collaborations with the Office of the President – Finance and Planning (DPPR), Zanzibar. He has also served as a Technical Coordinator in dairy value chain development under JUMAWAZA and currently chairs the Advisory Board of Zanzibar Green Culture Organisation (ZAGCO), supporting youth-led agribusiness innovation. In addition, he has authored and co-authored research on livestock production, including Climate-smart forage cultivation and improved feed management for sustainable dairy farming and Food Security in Zanzibar (Forage4Food) Research project, goat meat value addition, poultry nutrition, and smallholder production challenges. His academic interests extend to animal nutrition, welfare and behavior, precision livestock farming, and biodiversity-based production systems. His work is driven by a commitment to advancing sustainable, resilient, and inclusive livestock systems in Tanzania and beyond.
