About

Ms Arabu Haji Mwadini is an Assistant Lecturer in Geography and Environmental Studies at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), with over 17 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Geography and English Language) from SUZA and a Master’s degree in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Dar es Salaam. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Climate Change and Sustainable Development at the University of Dar es Salaam, with a focus on agricultural resilience. Her teaching and research interests include climate change and resilience, sustainable agriculture, environmental management, urban planning, regional and development planning, medical geography, and coastal and marine resource management. Her research experience includes studies on small-scale fisheries, food security, marine resource valuation, coastal livelihoods, and the socio-economic dimensions of coastal and marine resource use. Ms Mwadini has contributed to multidisciplinary research projects involving local and international researchers and institutions. Her academic work focuses on understanding environmental and socio-economic challenges and supporting sustainable, climate-resilient development, particularly in coastal communities. She is committed to teaching, research, community engagement, and applying interdisciplinary approaches to address contemporary environmental and development challenges.
