I am Nassra Is-hak Yussuf, a PhD-qualified academic, researcher, nurse, midwife, and public health and health systems specialist with over 20 years of professional experience across higher education, nursing and midwifery practice, clinical leadership, research, and health systems strengthening. I hold a PhD in Public Health and Health Systems, an MSc in Midwifery and Women’s Health, a BSc in Nursing, and a diploma in general nursing and midwifery. I am currently a senior tutor at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), where I contribute to undergraduate nursing and midwifery education, curriculum development, student assessment, academic mentoring, and the supervision of student research. My academic work is complemented by extensive clinical and leadership experience at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, including senior roles in obstetrics and gynecology, maternity, and neonatal care. My research interests and expertise center on maternal and newborn health, midwifery, antenatal care, preeclampsia and eclampsia, neonatal health, reproductive health, the quality of maternal healthcare services, and public health and health systems. I have experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, research design, data collection and management, scientific writing, research supervision, and dissemination of research findings. I have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in international journals and have presented research findings at national and international scientific conferences. My research contributions address important maternal and newborn health challenges in Zanzibar and Tanzania, with a particular focus on generating evidence to inform clinical practice, health policy, education, and health-system improvement. I am committed to advancing evidence-based nursing and midwifery education and practice, strengthening maternal and newborn health systems, mentoring emerging researchers and healthcare professionals, and contributing to high-quality, policy-relevant research. I hold a combination of academic expertise, clinical experience, research capability, and leadership in multidisciplinary health and higher education environments.
